The Department of International Chinese Education(DICE)established in 2008 and it is one of the 7 departments in the School of Foreign Languages. The aim is to develop bilingual talents with Mandarin language teaching skills, profound cultural understanding and intercultural communicative proficiency through learning TCSOL (Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages) courses and in-class TA internship programs under the undergraduate and postgraduate Programs for TCSOL. In 2013, they ranked among the top ten in the discipline assessment for International Chinese Education in universities in China.

Meanwhile, they also provide long-term, short-term and HSK intensive Mandarin courses for foreign students with different needs. More than 2000 foreign students from more than 30 countries have studied in DICE. They have an examination site of HSK which hosts HSK examinations twice a year.

With the qualified and experienced teaching faculties, well trained students, they are looking forward to overseas opportunities and hope to have a positive influence on future development of Mandarin Education with Chinese cultural understanding in a global context.

There are 15 full-time teaching faculties in the Department of International Chinese Education. Among them, 15 teachers have obtained the Certificate of Qualification for International Chinese Education issued by the Ministry of Education, and 11 teachers have been appointed by Hanban to performed their duties in 17 overseas universities successively. 7 teachers are HSK examiners and 3 teachers are examiners for Standard Mandarin.

In 2016, the online MOOC (massive open online course) Globalization and Chinese Culture was opened on the website of China MOOC University run by China's Ministry of Education. The course has gained huge popularity among learners around the world. In 2018, the course won the honor of Excellent Online Course granted by China's Ministry of Education.

There are currently 68 MTCSOL postgraduate students, who have been receiving in-class teaching skills training program since the first year and has gained practical experience of teaching as the assistant teacher under the guidance of Teaching Masters. Since 2015, 16 graduate students have been appointed to 11 countries as Hanban volunteers.

In addition, the excellent teaching staff in other departments of School of Foreign Languages are also qualified bilingual teaching resource. The specialists in our partner organizations will provide support in China trips, cultural immersion and other events.
