The opening ceremony of the cultural festival of the School of Foreign Languages (SFL), Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) was held On April 18, 2024. During the fun fair of the cultural festival, the French corner, named “Printemps qui course” and organized by French majors of Class 1, Year 2023, attracted a lot of attention.

Decorated with elements of famous French landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe, the theme of the poster at the French stall was “Explore French Traditions”. With a detailed introduction to French food, literature and art, the well-designed poster attracted many teachers and students, receiving much praise from the participants.

At the French corner, participants experienced many activities, including making French bread, taking part in Q&A about French culture for gifts, and learning more about traditional French dressing. French major students showed the steps of kneading in making French bread. In addition, gifts for the Q&A session were various, including traditional French snacks, such as macarons, cheese, codons, French sticks, and Napoleon cakes. Table decorations shaped like French landmarks were also of participants’ choice.

At the opening ceremony of the cultural festival, students from Class 1 Year 2023 led participants to experience the characteristics of French culture in an immersive way. By organizing such interesting activities, students can better understand the role of cultural ambassadors.
